Help to Buy was a first-time buyer equity loan scheme where the Government lent buyers money to buy a new home.  Buyers needed a deposit of at least 5% of the purchase price and one could borrow 20% of the purchase price (40% in London), with the loan being interest free for 5 years. There was a maximum purchase price of property, depending on what region you are in.

The Help to Buy scheme ended on 31 March 2023.  Whilst there have been many rumours the scheme could be resurrected, the government currently remains tight-lipped on such proposals.
