What pride means to me, Betsy Rowett

Pride has helped me realise that being visible isn’t just about representation, it’s about setting a tone of openness and integrity. I’ve found that the more I’ve leaned into being myself, the more I’ve been able to connect with others, speak up with confidence, and bring new ideas to the table. It’s empowering to know that my identity doesn’t hold me back - it actually helps me stand out in the best way.
Being out and proud at work has shown my employer that I’m honest, confident, and comfortable in my own skin. I think there’s real strength in being open about who you are, it sends a message that you’re not afraid to show up fully, and that kind of authenticity builds trust. When I talk about my girlfriend or share parts of my life without hesitation, I’m not just being personal - I’m showing that I’m grounded and self-assured, and that reflects in how I work too.
