The Keel, Liverpool

Allsop Letting & Management was appointed by Barings in 2023 to oversee the replacement of all windows / panels across The Keel, Liverpool.

Built in 1993, the former HMRC site was converted to a Build to Rent (BTR) scheme in 2015. This extensive upgrade involved replacing 970 opening windows, 444 fixed windows, 456 double glazed units, 2608 Ceramic coated panels and 24 door sets in the 240 apartments, communal areas and offices throughout the building to improve the overall thermal efficiency.

The project took two years and cost £5M. It has reduced the “U” value from an estimated average of 2.61 W/mK² to an average of 1.52 W/mK². Which could potentially save over 3 million Tonnes of CO2 over the next 30 years.

Overall benefits of this is project:

  • Reduction of heat loss from a room with a direct impact on room comfort
  • Reduction of energy use and saving money on energy bills for our residents and client
  • Prevents surface mould growth by increased indoor surface temperature
  • Healthy buildings with improved indoor thermal climates
  • Reduction of carbon emissions

Carl Greenhalgh, Manging Director at Merseyside Multiglazing commented: “We are proud to announce the successful completion of a two-year window replacement project at The Keel, Liverpoool.

The project was driven by our commitment to sustainability, comfort, and modern design, and by installing the new energy-efficient windows, we’ve not only made a significant step toward reducing the building's energy consumption but also enhanced the living environment for all residents."
