Celebrating Allsop Legend Elsie Holden

On International Women's Day we remember Allsop secretary and legend, Elsie Holden.

On the outbreak of war in 1914, Allsop founder, Ben Allsop, was mobilsed.  He said to his secretary, Elsie Holden:

“I’m off to the front Elsie, there is £100 in the bank, carry on as long as it lasts”.

In November 1918 he obtained early demobilisation because he had an established practice.

“When I returned from the War there was £1,000 in the bank,  so I told Elsie I would make her a Partner”.

It is most likely that Elsie Holden became one of the first female partners in an estate agents in Great Britain.

Happy International Women's Day to everyone.
