From Graduate to £1.5bn: Alex Neil on 25 Years in the property industry
When Alex Neil joined Allsop's Commercial Auction team in May 2002, fresh from passing his APC, he had one year of post-qualification experience and a lot to prove. Twenty-five years, £1.5 billion of stock sold, and more than 2,500 lots later, he's an Equity Partner and one of the most experienced figures in the UK commercial auction market.
In this instalment of BE News “My BE Career” series, Alex reflects on the winding road that brought him to Allsop, from surveying Ministry of Defence housing with a Psion device to navigating the turbulence of the financial crisis and the complexities of today's market. He talks about the values that have shaped his career, why honesty is the foundation of every lasting relationship in this industry, and what he'd tell anyone just starting out.
Read the full interview to find out who he'd invite to his dream dinner party, and the one change he'd make to the industry tomorrow.
