Allsop hires commercial auction specialist David Margolis as a partner

  • Allsop has hired David Margolis as a salaried partner
  • David joins from Acuitus, where he had been investment director and auctioneer for 12 years
  • Before Acuitus, David played a key role in launching CBRE’s auctions team as a senior director
  • David’s extensive connections in the industry from over 25 years of commercial property experience will cement existing client relationships and support new business initiatives

Allsop, the leading property consultancy and the UK’s largest property auction house, has appointed industry specialist David Margolis as a salaried partner to help grow the firm’s market-leading commercial auction business.

David has over 25 years of commercial property experience, including 12 in his most recent role as investment director and auctioneer at Acuitus, where he leveraged his extensive industry connections to drive new business opportunities. Prior to Acuitus, he was a senior director and an auctioneer at CBRE, where he played a key role in launching and establishing the business’ auction team. Having started his career in Cushman & Wakefield’s investment division, David began working in commercial auctions in 2001, debuting as an auctioneer in 2002, and has acted on behalf of banks, receivers and administrators, private and public property companies, institutional clients and private investors.

David joins Allsop in July, with a focus on cementing existing client relationships and sourcing and driving new business opportunities, to strengthen the firm’s longstanding position as the UK’s largest property auction house.

David Margolis, partner at Allsop, said: “Allsop is a business that I’ve admired for a very long time.  It has a strong heritage in the commercial auctions market, and I have known and worked closely with many of the team over the years, so it’s a firm with which I already feel a strong connection. Having spent the past 12 years at Acuitus, a business which shares many of Allsop’s values in being resolutely focused on the client and acting with the utmost integrity, I’m looking forward to this natural next step and contributing to the team’s continued success.”

Mark Gower, managing partner (commercial) at Allsop, said: “I have known David, both personally and professionally, for decades and I’m thrilled to welcome him to the team as a significant strategic addition.  That Acuitus has become so well respected in the world of commercial auctions is in no small part due to David’s energy, enthusiasm, and passion for what he does.  We share the same values and as a people-focused property professional he will fit in seamlessly.  With all of our senior team members having grown their careers with Allsop, David also marks a milestone in being the first ever salaried partner hire in the commercial auctions team – he is the right person for that milestone and the timing of his appointment couldn’t be better, with interest in the commercial auction market growing and transaction volumes beginning to increase.”
