  • Richard Adamson and Mark Gower appointed to residential and commercial managing partners, respectively to work alongside Senior Partner, Scott Tyler and CFO/COO Lesley Connor to form the Senior Leadership Team
  • Richard and Mark began their careers with Allsop as graduates
  • Current Managing Partner Chris Berriman to take on consultant role and focus on residential auctions

Allsop has appointed two managing partners to lead its residential and commercial divisions.

Richard Adamson becomes Residential Managing Partner while Mark Gower becomes Commercial Managing Partner, effective from 01 April 2024, with both Richard and Mark having begun their careers with Allsop. Following his 18 years as Managing Partner – a period that spanned the 2008 global financial crisis to Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic – and having reached the age of 60, Chris Berriman will now take on the role of consultant to the firm. He will continue to have an active interest in both residential auctions and the overall success of Allsop.

Richard began his career with Allsop in 2001 as a graduate surveyor, having previously carried out work experience with the company. He currently leads Allsop’s Residential Auction team and remains an active auctioneer, responsibilities he will continue to hold. In his role as Residential Managing Partner, Richard will provide day-to-day support for Allsop’s growing residential property wing, which provides a full range of transactional and advisory services including Valuations, Build-to-rent (BTR) and PurposeBuilt Student Accommodation (PBSA) investment, residential development and investment advisory, and other consulting services.

Following work experience with Allsop in 1995, Mark joined Allsop as a graduate in 1996 and has risen through the ranks to take on a leadership role in the Commercial Auction team, helping to maintain its dominance within the commercial auction market.  In addition to remaining part of the leadership of the Commercial Auction team, Mark will provide support to Allsop’s commercial teams, namely Valuations, National Investments – including its logistics, retail warehousing, and alternatives specialists – West End and City Investment and Leasing, Business Rates & Lease Advisory and the Recoveries & Receivership Team.

Richard and Mark will work closely with Lesley Connor, Allsop’s CFO and COO, as well as Senior Partner Scott Tyler, who retains responsibility for the strategic direction of the firm.

Richard Adamson, Residential Managing Partner at Allsop, said:

Having begun my career with Allsop over 20 years ago, it is a huge privilege not only to be taking on this responsibility on behalf of the partnership, but also to be following in the footsteps of fellow residential auctioneer, Chris Berriman, with whom I’m delighted to be continuing to share the rostrum. As one of the few partnerships remaining among UK real estate consultancies, Allsop’s people-focused culture has provided us with the resilience not only to weather the current slowdown in the market but to continue making strategic investments, including into our graduate and apprenticeship schemes. I look forward to working with Scott, Lesley, Mark and the entire firm to build further on that.

Mark Gower, Commercial Managing Partner at Allsop, said:

I remember being struck when I joined Allsop almost 30 years ago by the open and friendly partnership culture, and how hands on and approachable the partners were.  Much has changed over the years but I’m proud to say the culture remains reassuringly the same.  Allsop’s commitment to its people – both clients and colleagues – and entrepreneurial spirit enables us to deliver exceptional results for our clients, in what remains a challenging environment, as the market continues to adjust to the reality of living in a world of permanently higher interest rates.  I am thrilled by my appointment and I look forward to working with Richard, Scott and Lesley and helping to guide and shape the future of this exceptional firm.

Scott Tyler, Senior Partner at Allsop, said:

Chris has been an exemplar Managing Partner, helping to navigate the firm through seismic shifts in the UK real estate market and global economy while also helping to diversify our business to become the leader it is today in sectors including auctions, student housing and single- and multi-family build-to-rent. I’m thrilled he will continue as a consultant to the firm and to our clients, as well as continuing to provide an excellent auction experience from the rostrum. Richard and Mark represent the very best of Allsop’s partnership approach, and with our senior leadership team refreshed, we can confidently look at the many opportunities ahead and maximise performance for our wide range of clients.
