John’s “Landlord and Tenant” career began at JLL in 2007. He later moved to Knight Frank as a Partner for a number of years before coming to Allsop in 2017.

In all three roles John has been lucky enough to have been involved in some of the cutting edge thinking  challenging  entrenched presumptions in the rent review world, such as: re-thinking the rental implications of tenancies with “1954 Act protection”,  and how the introduction of Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards will impact dilapidations and rent reviews negotiations from April 2018.

His clients are a roughly even split between occupiers and landlords and have included Microsoft, Grant Thornton, Thales, Broadcom, Pfizer, Regus and  Black & Decker and landlords from private individuals to the likes of  Aviva, Legal and General, AXA, Aberdeen Standard and  M&G.

John is just as comfortable acting in the wider London and south east markets as he is in central London.  In the last 3 years he has been involved with rent review and lease renewal / re-gear negotiations on some 1.5m square feet of offices, industrial and technical lab space, and achieved the highest net effective rent settlements for the year in Reading, Maidenhead and Hammersmith.

It is a point of pride with John to give advice you can base a decision upon, not tick boxes with.  He will tell you this imperative was drilled into him as a young staff officer by a particularly uncompromising Commanding Officer in a previous career.
