Allsop Space held their second auction last Thursday at the Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin. The sale was another great success raising just short of €16m with a success rate of 95%. 79 lots were sold from a total of 83 offered.

It was once again standing room only in the ballroom of the Shelbourne. There were fewer spectators in attendance this time with a greater concentration of serious buyers competing aggressively.

Gary Murphy, auctioneer and director of Allsop Space commented:

“This second auction clearly shows that the Irish property market is alive and well. Bidding was exceptionally competitive. Although around 40% of hits to our website were from outside of Ireland, the majority of buyers were from the domestic market, with three buyers from the UK, one from South Africa and one from Luxembourg.”

Stephen McCarthy, Allsop Space’s Dublin director, said

“The Irish market is redefining itself and, with the drought of available finance likely to continue for the foreseeable future, cash is now king. The majority of bidders appear to have been unfunded. The appetite for bricks and mortar has not diminished.”
