Section 119(1) of the Charities Act 2011 places a requirement upon charities when disposing of (either letting or selling) an interest in property to obtain a report from a qualified surveyor acting exclusively for the charity.

The legislation provides the general requirement for the interest to be advertised and openly marketed, either by private treaty or auction, prior to entering into a transaction and to achieve a disposal on the best terms available in that specific market.
